Knowing exactly what's going to happen when, will be useful. Colleagues often think you have a crystal ball. Since you have been working for Cortina, you only have an eye for bicycles anyway, or rather bicycle mobility solutions in general. 
As Business Development Lead, you inspire, stimulate and motivate different expert teams to develop new business in the Netherlands and abroad. Because of you the teams seek each other out more often, learn from each other and know how to connect online and offline more. The business unit manager Bikes complimented you last week: "Through your entrepreneurship from a strategic vision you really bring commerce within Kruitbosch to the next level. Glad you've joined our business unit." With a smile, you walk down the hallway and see "your" team leaders in room 4. A whiteboard, lots of post-its, happy faces and red cheeks. They initiated this session themselves. A sense of pride comes over you. You look forward to Monday when they update you on their shared insights. What a great job you have!

As you've read, we are NOT looking for that traditional manager who will manage a commercial team. We are looking for someone who is going to drive and realize a commercial transition. Just the thing for you? 


We will first introduce ourselves:
Kruitbosch, nice to meet you! We are a Zwolle-based family business with a rich history. Almost 70 years ago we started as a local wholesaler, now we strive for sustainable and innovative bicycle mobility solutions in the urban areas of Europe. Through our Bikes business unit - one of two - we offer bikes and e-bikes of our Cortina brand. And, through our Parts business unit, in addition to products and concepts, we offer customized solutions for 3,500 bicycle dealers (in the Benelux and beyond) and consumers. We do all this with 250 satisfied employees from our offices in Zwolle and Lier (B).


Who are we looking for?
Cortina is a well-known Dutch bicycle brand with a track record to be proud of. Besides making our Dutch business more sustainable and professional, it's time to spread our wings and conquer Europe. We do this with a strong brand, a great product portfolio and a young and ambitious team. To realize this, we need to transform our commercial function into an omnichannel, data-driven and proactive machine. We are looking for someone to lead and drive this transition!

As Business Development Lead you…

  • will be responsible for integral sales funnel direction to further improve conversion;
  • take our retail and account management to the next level. More digital and data-driven and always customer-focused;
  • encourage our international team to develop effective market-entry strategies and growth plans for new European markets;
  • are responsible for business development and drive the development of new propositions, large account plans and alternative business models;
  • drive teams to improve customer journeys and make them fully aligned with the relevant target group and market.

Naturally, we are primarily looking for a Business Development Lead who fits us perfectly in terms of character, motivation and vision. In addition, our ideal candidate is in all likelihood:

  • Someone with academic working and thinking level and at least 10 years of experience in marketing, business development and/or consultancy. In addition, experience in marketing products and propositions should not be lacking.
  • Someone who has experience with a commercial transition. 
  • A driven person with a strong strategic vision and a sustainable and international mindset. You are fluent in English (French and/or German is an advantage).  
  • A real expert in digitizing the commercial process and someone who can make colleagues think from big to small. Solve a problem first and then (let them) dive into the details.  
  • An entrepreneurial person with lean start-up/design-thinking skills. You encourage creativity - this is where your coaching and development skills come in handy.

Who do you work with and for?
Our organization consists of two business units (Bikes and Parts) supported by three support units (HR, IT and Finance). Your position is part of the Bikes business unit and together with Paul (Supply Chain & Sourcing) and Kath (Product Development, Service & Quality) you form the Core Team Bikes. Together you bear the P&L responsibility for this business unit. You lead team leaders who manage the following teams: team Marketing, team Brand Ambassadors & Large Accounts, team Points of Sale & Service and team International.

What do you do during a work day?

  • You start the week with a stand-up with the Bikes Core Team. Here you look back at the results achieved the previous week, discuss issues and opportunities.
  • You agree with the HR business partner on how to further shape behavioral change. 
  • You discuss the latest customer insights with the Marketing team leader and explore together the opportunities for business growth. 
  • You brainstorm with the project team about 'feeding the funnel'. From Lead to quote to customer. Reaching our customer and delivering the best possible value and experience for customers is most important to you.

  2. GMA
    After the 15-minute phone interview, you will be sent a GMA (cognitive ability test) by email. It will take about 30 minutes to complete. We do this because a GMA is a robust predictor of job performance and learning ability to handle complex work. 
  3. Feedback on resume/phone interview/GMA.
    Within days of making the GMA, Natascha will contact you with information about how to proceed. You will receive an explanation as to why we are inviting you for a follow-up or why not. We understand that a 15-minute interview may seem very short to form a good opinion. If you feel that the reasoning is not (entirely) correct, we ask you to discuss it with us. We provide feedback based on three factors: resume (hard requirements), GMA score and answers given at 15-minute interview.
